 | You forgot the Flying Spaghetti Monster ;-) |
 | Christian but no "official" orthodoxy. I am my own church, priest, and confession hearer. ;-) |
 | They are schismatics from Smoochyleftearism.
Or is it the other way around?
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | What? Smooch doesn't believe in Smoochyleftearism?!
The theological implications of this are profound. And I suggest you Smoochyleftearists demand your money back.
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | yes, I am indeed my own confessor.
/me does something stupid /confessor-me: "Don't do that again, jerk!" /me: "ok" /me: "Hmm, I won't do that again, and I don't have to say a bunch of hail marys or anything! Confessor-me, you rock!" /confessor-me: *sighs* "I know, my son, I know" |
| it was only a hypothetical belief system that i consider about as feasible as the major religions. ;)
i never meant to keep that money, it was just resting in my account. |
 | I'm a staunch agnostic.
I think? Wait, maybe not. |
 | I forget where it's from, and I'm paraphrasing, but:
Q. What does an evangelical agnostic do? A. When you answer the door, they just stand there and shrug.
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | one you forgot, Ceiling Cat! |
 | D'oh. Even BoE is quoting Ceiling Cat these days.
/me hangs head in shame |
 | Yeah, you forgot agnostic :)
Or, in /. parlance:
"I'm agnostic you insensitive clod!" |
 | What do you call an atheist at his own funeral?
All dressed up and nowhere to go! |
 | Second from last option, sir. ;-)
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | Aw, me too. ;-)
I don't remember, what flavor of Christian are you, if ye don't mind my asking?
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | Heehee, we can't even integrate the respective flavors of Christianity into one poll choice here. Crazy. |
 | Interesting -- nice idea. Gotten pretty fed up with the interweaving of politics and church myself.
Nice to see a few Episcopalians on their list of leading lights, too. :-)
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | I like buddhism, only without all the pomp and circumstance. |
 | Nah, wasn't intended in that, ahem, spirit. I was actually thinking of a song lyric that's been bouncing in and out of my head the past few days: "Jesus wasn't a christian, but he would have made a pretty good buddhist." It's from some modern day Charlie Daniels wannabe. Elsewhere in that song he explains to his lyrical Satan that he didn't snort all that coke to get high, he just likes the way it smells. |
 | Nearest slot is Taoist.
Strictly a Spinozan Pantheist.
Both are the smooch. |
 | Great, now I'll have that song running through my head all afternoon... thanks! |
 | I wonder if there was a burning bush or something cool that came with this poll when god asked to have this poll published? |
 | It was an attempt to rig the poll. By saying God wanted you to answer, atheists would by definition refuse to do so on the basis that a nonexistent being can't ask them to answer, therefore us believers would pwn them and the day is MINE!
Or something.
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | Not Smoochyleftearism... these days I consider myself a Humanist. |
 | I'm an Ethelredist myself.
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | Heehee, we can't even integrate the respective flavors of Christianity into one poll choice here. Crazy. Mainly because I expected Christians to be in the substantial majority, so I figured I may as well differentiate.
Had I expected mostly Muslim responses, for example, I'd have happily differentiated between Sunni, Shia, Sufi, Kharijite, Alawite, and so on.
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | Or would that be "born again pagan"?
^_^ |
 | I can't kick it. I totally believe in God. Maybe not "your" God though.
In my heart, I totally don't believe in any organized faith. I totally have a great deal of respect for those who choose to practice any faith. I totally do not believe in any group who would claim that theirs is the only way to salvation. It's just not practical. It just isn't inclusive ... it just doesn't jive with my view of God.
That fits in with some belief systems too, Wicken is inclusive that way - but also way to big on the ritual and super-spiritual.
I have the most respect for the whole Buddha thing, but not as a religion. I think of that as a way to remind yourself of reality, which, frankly -- I could use that most days.
I'm spiritual in the sense that I believe in being part of the greater good (when I'm not forgetting myself and contributing to the greater evil).
I believe what I believe, and anyone who tells me I'm wrong has more issues with God than I. |
| if smoochyleftearism is anything, it's humanist. :) |
 | Where is the Scientologists / Cult / KoolAid Drinker reference? |
| yay! lots of atheists! :) |
 | That's a smart idea. I'll take a look at their info. |
 | Any of the odd-numbered choices is close enough. |
 | The thought did cross my mind. Remember though, some atheists, simply, choose to insert you as god - (not for you ego, but, just as they insert "unknown terrestrial author" to old testament. )
Did I over-analyze this? Yes, yes I did. |
 | Are you denying that you have a left ear? |
 | Agnostic Deist- I don't know if there is a god, but I believe that if there is one he doesn't have any role in micromanaging our lives.
I think that atheism and theism both share a certain arrogance.
/yes, answering prayers is micromanaging. //listening to them is also vaguely intrusive. |
 | Oh, my GOD!! A Red Dwarf reference! I never thought that such a thing would show up here! Oh, time for a poll.... |
 | Whew! pretty close there, almost went the whole day without inspiring someone, making the world a better place. |
 | I went with agnostic because while I don't believe in god, I'm not one of those smug atheists who has faith in the Truth of the non-existence. |
 | Ha! You're a smug agnostic!
Cheers,
Ethelred |
 | What's the name of this song? (Or for bonus points, where does the MP3 reside on your server?) |
 | Me, too... I just hope it doesn't get f'ed up like all the other Good Ideas over the years. (Non-denominational, Purpose Driven, etc.) |
 | Yeah, don't waste inspiration on that smeg-head. |
